The Dept of Pharmaceutical Chemistry was established since Institutes establishment and as one of four core Dept. The Dept includes Two Pharm chemistry Laboratory and a Pharm Analysis Laboratory. Also Dept has central Instrumentation facility equipped with sophisticated instruments like HPLC, UV-VIS spectrophotometer, Brookfield viscometer etc. The Dept support the academic requirements for students pursuing a Four year B.Pharmacy Semester Pattern course of Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune. The Dept has a postgraduate course M.pharmacy in Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance. The Dept is engaged in identification of inorganic and organic molecules, synthesis of minor compounds at first and second year level, whereas synthesis of chemical entities, organic reaction monitoring at third and final year level. At postgraduate level the focus given on method development on HPLC and microanalysis of drug etc.
The Dept includes 8 Faculty members, among which one is Doctorate and three members pursuing doctorate.
SALIENT FEATURES OF DEPARTMENT :
- The Dept has spacious working place, well equipped instruments and high quality chemicals and solvents.
- The Pharm chemistry Laboratory facilitated with chemicals, glassware’s, equipments is involved in Qualitative analysis of inorganic and organic compounds and minor synthesis of organic compounds.
- The Pharm chemistry laboratory equipped with many instruments exposes to students synthesis of major organic compounds and major organic reactions
- The Pharm analysis laboratory gives basic information and in detail practical aspects about analysis of API and Drugs and their formulations. For postgraduate level the sophisticated instruments like HPLC, UV-VIS etc. fulfils the research aim of students
